Pair Programming Party

Printer-friendly view of this page.
Pair Programming Parties are a fun and collaborative way of learning and practicing agile and other programming techniques. People basically just come together with their laptops and the rest is pretty self-organizing.

Why show up?

There are so many reasons to go to a Pair Programming Party that it's hard to justify your absence. Maybe you just like to program while being around other programmers. Or you want to practice or learn some new techniques, maybe even a whole new programming language! Maybe you just want to show off your talents where people appreciate them or on any other day you would be home programming too, but without a pint of beer. Or maybe you want to hang out and come and see what's going on, that's fine too!

Showing up is for free, so you only pay for whatever you order from the menu. And that's thanks to the Imperial Pub who lets us use the 'back room' at no charge.

Schedule

It's all pretty unstructured, where people walk in as they like, or go for a beer to let the brain relax. But here are a few rules to make sure everybody's aware of what's going on.

  • 7:00pm: standup (about 15 min)
People share the projects they brought or what they want to do. The initial pairs are formed here.
  • 9:00pm retrospective (max 30 min)
To learn how to improve the meetings every time, we have a little retrospective.

After the retrospective, there is more time for a beer or for the hard core fans some more programming ;)

But as the title already mentions, it's a party! So it's supposed to be fun! ;)

See you all there!
