As teams increase their delivery effectiveness through XP and Agile practices, they are still challenged to work effectively within larger programs of work and portfolios of projects. And traditional program management is challenged to effectively leverage individual team Agile practices across a broader context. Too often this problem is ignored by traditional management, and the XP team merely works around their non-Agile context. Or the question is simplistically framed as 'scaling Agile' for larger teams. In this talk Sean Doran of ThoughtWorks will introduce some ideas to more effectively frame the question and to apply Agile principles in a larger context.

I don't program like I did 10 years ago. I don't think about programming the way I did 10 years ago. For me, the greatest change has been how I practice and think about testing. The testing landscape is vast. There is a lot to see. There is a lot to learn. In our session, I will share stories from my testing journey and show you with a map that you can use on your journey. You'll want to come to this presentation if you're a team lead, a business analyst, a product owner, a developer, and especially if you're a tester.

It was 10 years ago this month that the 17 thought leaders behind the Agile Manifesto first gathered to identify the common thread that today we call Agile. According to this article (http://www.sdtimes.com/AGILE_LEADERS_RECONVENE_AT_SNOWBIRD/By_David_Rubinstein/About_AGILE/35244), there’s a mini-reunion taking place to discuss the problems that have been solved and what cannot be solved. For the February XPToronto meeting we’re going to have our own get together, a panel discussion in a fishbowl format to review the state of Agile in the Toronto area, what’s changed over the last 10 years, what challenges still face the Agile movement and what we can do about them.
